Acidosis and Sugar

I want to talk to you this month about DOING NOTHING and SPENDING NOTHING to improve your HEALTH. How's that for a New Year's resolution?

Ok, what I actually mean by this is that we are always working on what we should ADD to our program to improve our health when we should be thinking about what we should DROP. In this case, I am going to point out ONE THING we can discontinue to get feeling much better. Maybe don't think about what vitamin to add or what health food to add, just this once. Let me explain further.

The fact is that with the existing American diet the vast majority of us are ACIDIC. One reason for this is that most of us don't have the slightest idea that this problem exists. But I don't want you to take my word for it that you are too acidic, otherwise, I would be just another one of those fanatical guys with a Nutrition degree trying to indoctrinate you. I am able to demonstrate your acidosis via a simple, five-minute test.

Metabolic acidosis can be a very temporary phenomenon, as when someone holds his breath. I am not talking about this kind of thing, but rather the pH (amount of acidity or alkalinity) that is in your blood on an ongoing basis, predominantly in the form of lactic acid (you know- the stuff that makes our joints and muscles ache after excessive exercise. Your blood level should be between .5 and 1.5%. When people are at 5 to 6% they can become comatose.

Many people have the notion that acidic foods and drinks cause us to be acidic- WRONG! The majority of our chronic acidosis is due to a familiar and seemingly non-acidic staple of our diet, SUGAR. Try dropping that for a New Year's resolution.
